Unlike a charging station, where more cables and haphazard stacking of devices is involved, universal docking stations provide cradle slots that MP3 players, phones and tablets can fit vertically into.Īlso unlike charging stations, docking stations can often provide a mounting interface to connect these devices to landline internet, computers as external drives, or televisions as streaming sources. What are Universal Docking Stations? Universal docking stations are charging and interfacing stations designed with various makes and models of phones, tablets, mini-laptops and gaming devices in mind. 10 Best-Selling Universal Docking Stations Comparative Table.UtechSmart Triple Display USB Type C Docking Station.AmazonBasics USB 3.0 Universal Laptop Docking Station. How Do Docking Stations Differ From Each Other?.I use a physical KVM and just switch the mouse and keyboard at a hardware level, and have never used Synergy. But in any case, I would suggest that you use DIsplayPort rather than HDMI - it works better in the long run with high resolutions.Īs for the Synergy stuff: I don't know. Either you get one that supports HDMI 1.4, AKA (which is enough for your ultrawide), and includes USB 3.0, or you get one for HDMI 2.0, AKA and settle for USB 2.0. There is a technical reason for that which I don't want to repeat again (long story short: you run out of bandwidth for USB-C, because HDMI is rather inefficient). I think you'll find that that legendary cheap adapter does not exist. I decided that for now I can just use a cheap adapter that has two usb 3.0 connectors, HDMI 60hz, and ethernet, 2560x1080 is well within the capabilities of a single DisplayPort cable, and even works with a single HDMI 1.4 cable.

I would suggest that you get a single DisplayPort cable and just use that, and don't mess with the multiple displays on the Mac side. Click hold maximize first application and select second application. Open new application on same page as desired application.
* Say I have a dual screen and want to change one of the applications. Does anyone have experience with Synergy for this?
MACBOOK PRO DOCKING STATION WIRECUTTER WINDOWS
It appears I can copy files from Windows to Mac but not vice versa using ShareMouse. What's crazy is that, in order to keep consistency with learning macOS, I left my copy/paste shortcuts to where they change depending on the screen I'm using. I'm going to try to use Magnet to better control multiple applications in Mac, because the macOS way managing dual screens is ridiculously bad*.Ī bit OT, but what's nice about this setup is the MacBook is positioned on the left where I can use the TrackPad with my left hand while using the mouse in my right. I decided that for now I can just use a cheap adapter that has two usb 3.0 connectors, HDMI 60hz, and ethernet, and just use the extrawide, while I transition from Windows (keep my Dell connected to my other screen and dock), and use Synergy/ShareMouse to control mouse and keyboard across both computers. To do this I set custom resolutions in the Intel Graphics Control Panel, and it only works when the cables are directly connected to the Windows laptop, not through my Dell dock. The resolution is only 2560x1080 and yes in Windows I was using PBP but in order to do so, I set each "screen" to be 1280x1080 (otherwise it would try to fit 1920x1080 in each and then squish this down to 10.5:9 aspect ratio.
